Then His Late Majesty King Mahendra, who was himself a poet, too, founded the Nepal Sahitya Kala Academy on June 22, 1957. This was later renamed Nepal Rajkiya Pragyã Pratisthan and now it is named as Nepal Pragyã Pratisthan. Since its inception, this prestigious national academic institution has actively committed itself to the enhancement of Nepali literature, art and culture.

"In the development of nationalism of any country, the language and literature of that country plays a vital role."
