Every
year, Royal Nepal Academy organizes the following festivals,
exhibitions, shows and other activities :
NATIONAL DRAMA FESTIVAL
is celebrated every year for a week in the middle
of April to mark the auspicious advent of the Nepalese
New year. A competition is held among Nepali playwrights
and actors. Each year, the Drama Festival is dedicated
to a prominent actor.
NATIONAL POETRY FESTIVAL
is organized every year on the anniversary of
Royal Nepal Academy towards the last week of June (Ashad
9). Poets from all over the kingdom and abroad participate
in this event where winners receive medals and cash prizes
for their compositions.
NATIONAL ART EXHIBITION
is held every year to mark the auspicious birthday
of His Late Majesty King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev.
On this occasion, contemporary paintings and sculptures
as well as traditional arts are exhibited at the Art Gallery
of Nepal Association of Fine Arts (NAFA) in Kathmandu.
NATIONAL FOLK MUSIC AND DANCE FESTIVAL
, held once a year, accomodates participants from
all over the kingdom. They present music and dance reflecting
their local culture. The best among these participants
are awarded prizes.
NATIONAL UNIFICATION DAY
is celebrated every year on the birth anniversary
of the founder of modern Nepal, His Late Majesty Prithivi
Narayan Shah. On this occasion, Royal Nepal Academy organizes
a procession and offers flowers to the statue of His Late
Majesty.
BHANU JAYANTI
is celebrated every year around July (Ashad 29)
on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Nepali
premier poet Bhanu Bhakta Acharya.
STAGE PERFORMANCE
: Royal Nepal Academy has a well furnished spacious
indoor theatre for the performance of plays, musical
concerts and other programmes. It has a group of distinguished
artists who stage their performance in the country and
abroad. Several stage performances are held every year.
