    Nepal Association of Fine Arts (NAFA)
    Nepal Association of Fine Arts (NAFA) founded by the then Royal Highness Crown Prince Birendra in 1965 was affiliated with Royal Nepal Academy in 1977. It is devoted to fostering and developing fine arts, paintings, sculptures and graphic arts in Nepal. NAFA office and Art Gallery are located in the NAFA building at Naxal, Kathmandu. www.nafa.org.np


    Objectives
    1. To unite and strengthen cooperation among people working in the field of fine arts.
    2. To work as a centre in the field of fine arts.
    3. To inspire and encourage the development of arts in Nepal.
    4. To study and promote historical and artistic works.
    Functions
    1. Organize lectures, seminars, conferences and exhibitions on local, national and international arts.
    2. Award and honour artists and academicians who have made significant contributions in the field of arts.
    3. Establish links and interact with art related national and international organizations.
    The Building
    Sita Bhawan, the office of NAFA, is situated at Naxal. The building has an exhibition hall, a library and a museum, besides rooms that are used for the development of arts. At present there are thirteen art studios and one sculpture studio. These art studios provide space for emerging artists who do not have appropriate space at home. NAFA building is located in a compound of 22 ropanis of land.
    Art material sales counter
    To avail art materials on reasonable rates to artists, NAFA art material sales counter has been established since 2005.
    Art and craft exhibition
    Since its inception, NAFA has been organizing a national level art and craft exhibition on the occasion of the birth anniverssary of its founder and patron, His Late Majesty King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. Besides this, NAFA also organizes art exhibitions and mapes. It also its exhibition hall available at a reasonable rate to artists.
    Medal and Awards
    NAFA awards medals to artists who excel in their work.
    National Birendra Art Museum
    "Birendra Art Musemu" was established in 1997 to promote and develop modern Nepali painting and sculpture, Attempts have been made to collect excellent works of most of the Nepali artists.
    At times, NAFA also conducts other activities such as seminars related with art, lectures, interactions, regional art exhibitions, etc.
